The Run for Children's Guild is a group of volunteers dedicated to helping northwest children by raising money for uncompensated care at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center. We are a group of 25 men and women who give our time and resources to organize this annual running and walking event.  This is our first year combining efforts with The Covey Run.  In previous years our 5K run and walk was held at Sand Point Magnuson Park in Seattle.  We are very excited about the event this year and hope to see you in Woodinville on August 16th. If you are interested in joining our guild or volunteering for the event, please contact Aileen Kelly - aileen.kelly@seattlechildrens.org or the Run for Children's Guild.

Our Featured Patient

Each year we feature a Children's Hospital patient at the event.  This year we want to introduce you to Aaron Poor.

Aaron's Story

Aaron was a gregarious 3-year-old when, during a family vacation to Disneyland, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Aaron and his family immediately returned home to begin 38 months of chemotherapy. In his third year of treatment, Aaron developed several uncommon complications. Upon admittance to Children’s Hospital, Aaron was underweight, unable to eat and suffering from infections. With the integrated care of Dr. Debra Friedman, he returned to a stable condition within the year. In the spring of 2000, on-going blood work revealed kidney dysfunction and damage. Aaron was referred to Dr. Allison Eddy who worked to minimize the impacts on his future development. Aaron has since flourished. He continues periodic nephrology check-ups and long-term cancer survivorship visits. Aaron is currently enjoying his freshman year in high school.
